Member at Large
Neil was raised in rural Alberta before relocating to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta. After completing his Education degree, he began his career in finance. For over 20 years, Neil has worked in the wealth management and financial planning sector. In his role, he has spent much of his career managing and mentoring professionals to achieve their career goals.
Beyond his career, Neil is an active philanthropist and volunteer. He has served on several University of Alberta boards and been active in shaping programming. In the last 20 years, he has been at the forefront of raising funds for causes to ensure their sustainability. He went on to create The Salsbury Trust to be able to continue funding charitable causes that create a positive impact on the community. His most recent initiative was the creation of the Brite Line distress line in conjunction with the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Faculty of Education. In 2022, Neil was awarded the National Philanthropic Day award.
Neil doesn’t like to sit still – when not working or volunteering, he’ll either be checking off another country on his bucket list (60 and counting) or at the dog park with his two rescue dogs.
