Alberta School of Business Representative
Jason Wong grew up in small town Alberta after arriving in Canada at a young age as a refugee. Graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2002, his first roles were in the financial services industry. In 2009 he pivoted toward a career in accounting, becoming designated in 2012, and progressed as an accountant in a variety of industries and organizations until 2018. He then leveraged his experience and knowledge into a career in recruiting, specializing in placing senior level finance and accounting professionals into new roles until leaving in 2024.
As a volunteer, he has served as the Chair of the Edmonton Chapter of CPA’s, an organization representing 30,000 Chartered Professional Accountants and those pursuing their designation in the Edmonton region. He was also the NAIT Accountant in Residence, and speaks and serves in various capacities at the University of Alberta.
Jason met his wife in Edmonton in 2005 and they were married in 2007. They are raising their children with a mindset geared towards contribution, gratitude, and giving back to the community. They have volunteered with organizations targeted towards Canadian newcomers, children and youth. They believe in helping others achieve their potential by helping remove roadblocks and using their experience to mentor young people following a similar path. He now dedicates his time to volunteering, spending time with his family, and has returned to the University of Alberta as a student.
