Completion of Five Academic Subjects
Students applying for admission from high school must show that they have successfully completed five academic subjects. The academic subjects you need to present will vary by program and faculty. Mathematics is required for engineering, business, and most science programs. Please note that CBSE and CISCE Math meets both the Algebra and Calculus requirements. Admission is based on a competitive average in the required courses for a program.
CBSE and CISCE National Boards
Applicants completing Class XII
Applicants will be evaluated for Early Admission on presentation of the following:
- Class X board results
- Predicted Class XII grades
To obtain Final Admission and clear conditions:
- Present final Class XII board results meeting the U of A’s requirements and the information needed to verify them online
- Applicants who were not offered Early Admission will be evaluated for Final Admission with final Class XII board results.
12th Standard Math
Students wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Commerce or other program for which Mathematics is a required high school subject and who do not have 12th Standard Math, please register and complete an online Alberta Math 30-1 Course or other provincial equivalent. Please contact india@ualberta.ca for further information and options.
Applicants who have already completed Class XII
Applicants will be evaluated for Final Admission based on the submission of final Class XII board results and the information needed to verify them online.
Indian State Boards
To be considered for a conditional offer, students will need to submit school results for Class XI showing a competitive average and course registration for Class XII or Class XII mid-year results. The offer will become unconditional upon receipt of the final Class XII board results meeting the U of A’s requirements.
GCE: A-level

English Language Proficiency
Students in CBSE or CISCE schools, who present 75%+ on their final Class XII exams, meet U of A English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements. For a full list of ways to meet ELP requirements, please visit Language Requirements.
