2025 Summer Mandarin Program in Taiwan
About the Program
The 2025 Summer Mandarin Program in Taiwan is a two-month Chinese language study abroad program run by the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Alberta in partnership with the National Taiwan Normal University.
National Taiwan Normal University, located in Taipei, is one of the oldest and best comprehensive universities in Taiwan. It is the home of the prestigious Mandarin Training Center, the largest and most renowned Chinese language center in Taiwan. Around 1,700 students from more than 80 countries learn Chinese at all levels each semester. N.T.N.U is conveniently located in downtown Taipei, with a nearby subway station, facilitating students' ability to explore this cosmopolitan city.
All classes will be taught by N.T.N.U. faculty lecturers who have professional certification in teaching Chinese to non-native speakers. N.T.N.U will evaluate students and place them into appropriate-level classes.
Arts students who successfully complete the program are guaranteed to receive 6 transfer credits toward their degree. (Students from other faculties can also usually receive 6 credits, though you should consult with your home faculty to ask about the policies).
Students will be given pre-departure orientation and risk management training, and U of A staff will be on hand in Taipei during the program to provide guidance and help students resolve any difficulties.
