Grammar and Spell Check
The following grammar and spell checking resource might be helpful to ELL students. Please note that some disciplines and genres may prefer grammatical forms unacknowledged by online spell checkers. For example, method sections of research articles in science prefer the use of the passive voice over the active voice. It is important that users
- consider certain disciplinary and genre conventions when integrating feedback from grammar checkers;
- acknowledge that grammar checkers are a tool but do not replace the student's careful final read of the paper.
