Toronto Annual Ukrainian Famine Lecture
Inaugurated in 1998 by the CIUS Toronto office in partnership with the Toronto branch of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and more recently with the Petro Jacyk Program for the Study of Ukraine at the University of Toronto’s Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies. The longest-running annual lecture on the Holodomor anywhere in the world, today it is organized by HREC in conjunction with the original partners as well as the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies and St. Vоlоdymyr Institute.
Bohdan Bociurkiw Memorial Lecture
Established in November 2001 to honour the memory of Professor Bohdan R. Bociurkiw, an eminent political scientist and internationally renowned specialist in human rights, Soviet religious policy, and Ukrainian church history.
Shevchenko Lecture
Serving since 1966 as a forum for important intellectual discussions concerning Ukrainian history, nation building, language, literature, culture, and identity. As the institute’s oldest and most eminent invited lecture, it attests to our commitment to build and disseminate knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians in the world.
Wolodymyr Dylynsky Memorial Lecture
Features prominent specialists in the fields of 20th-century Ukrainian history or independent Ukraine. Created in 2006 by Myron Dylynsky of Toronto, who established the Wolodymyr and Lydia Dylynsky Memorial Endowment Fund at CIUS that honours his parents.
Danylo Husar Struk Memorial Lecture
Founded in 1999 to honour the memory of Danylo Husar Struk (1940–99), a literary scholar and professor of Ukrainian Literature at the University of Toronto. The lecture series promotes interest in Ukrainian literature within English-language scholarship.
