Arts Bridging Students Information

There are two Stages in the Bridging Program. Your English Language Proficiency scores will determine which Stage is right for you. You must meet the requirements of the Bridging Program within 12 months of your initial registration.

Students interested in the Faculty of Arts Bridging Program may be admitted in the Fall and Spring Terms.

BP Stage 1

Duration: Minimum of 2 months
Course: EAP 135
After you complete BP Stage 1 successfully, begin BP Stage 2

BP Stage 2

Duration Minimum of 8 months
Courses: EAP 136 (0 credit) + EAP 137 (3 credits)
When taking EAP 137, students may begin studies in their Faculty and enroll in up to 3 additional academic courses in the Fall and Winter terms.

For full information about EAP courses, and academic English for undergraduate admissions, please visit the English Language School Website.

Please contact Arts Undergraduate Student Services if you need assistance planning your studies as part of the Bridging Program.
The Faculty of Arts will be placing a 3-course (9-credit) limit on the first 4-month term (Fall or Winter) for students exiting BP Stage 2 and entering BP Stage 3, starting in the Fall 2016 term.

For example, a student completing BP Stage 2 (EAP 145) in Spring 2016 or Summer 2016 will be limited to taking 3 courses in the Fall 2016 term; a student completing BP Stage 2 in Fall 2016 will be limited to taking 3 courses in the Winter 2017 term.

Students who would like to take more than 3 courses during this term will need to speak to an advisor in Arts in advance for permission. Please contact us via email (arts.undergrad@ualberta.ca), explaining your situation and including a study plan for your upcoming term.
