Dr. Paramita Chaudhuri Basu, ‘21 MBA

Dr. Paramita Chaudhuri Basu is an innovation facilitator, scientist, and educator. She is the Director of Programs & Ecosystem Development at API, Alberta’s largest not-for-profit life sciences organisation, where she leads program development for translating academic research into commercially viable technologies. With over 20+ years of experience in academic research, Paramita is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta. She leads the Health Innovation Hub at UAlberta, the university’s lead incubator for health innovators. She has a PhD in biochemistry, and an MBA with a focus on strategy and entrepreneurship from the University of Alberta.

Paramita is an active community builder and participates in different ecosystem building community engagements. She is an active volunteer for the Edmonton Regional Innovation Network, the University of Alberta Alumni association, and a board member for the MacEwan Green Condominium Association. She is a start-up advisor and mentors STEM students to explore alternative career paths.

Apart from health innovation, Paramita is enthusiastic about reading, gardening, and travelling. She lives in Edmonton with her husband and spends her leisure exploring her diverse creative projects.
