Agents, Consultants + Representatives
It is the student’s decision whether or not to use an education agent, consultant or representative when applying to the U of A.
Please note: No educational agent has special access to our programs and services and no one can guarantee your admission to the U of A.
The U of A does work with a number of authorized education consultants who can advise you on our programs and the application process.
We recommend that you do not use an agency or consultant unless they are authorized and work with the U of A.
Email welcome@ualberta.ca to find out if the U of A works with an education consultant in your country.
If you do choose to use an education agent, consultant or representative who does not work with the U of A, then we recommend that you:
- Discuss which services the education agent will provide and clarify what the fees will be for each and every service.
- Be careful of anything that sounds too good to be true.
- Do not leave original academic documents, passports or tuition fee payments with the education agent.
- Application, tuition and residence fee payments should always be made directly to the U of A and not to an education agent.
- You should make your own application on our website; do not let an education agent do this for you.
Please note: Choosing, using or hiring an education agent, consultant or representative is the sole responsibility of the student and their family.
Not sure if you are dealing with an authorized U of A representative? Email welcome@ualberta.ca for advice and guidance.
Immigration Consultant
If you choose to use an immigration consultant to help you with the study permit application, prospective students should verify the immigration consultant’s status on the online public register and check disciplinary notices in the Complaints and Professional Conduct section. You do not need to hire an immigration consultant; it is your choice. No one can guarantee the approval of your immigration application. All the immigration forms are free. Detailed study permit advice is available on the Study Permits page.
