| Personal |
I have been teaching traditional Japanese gojuryu karate to children and adults
since 1981. I keep abreast of current research in sport science, and seek safe
ways to apply that knowledge to the traditions of karate training. I believe
that karate must be taught with recognition of both its cultural heritage, and
its expectations for ethical behaviour, not just as a sport or a form of
fighting.

Personal comment:
Karate is not about physical strength, neither is it solely about mental
sharpness. To reach their greatest potential, karateka must develop both mental
and physical strength in equal measure.
