Wirth Institute Donor Receives National Honour

21 June 2013

We are proud to announce that Wirth Institute donor Mr. Saul Reichert recently received honours at the National Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.

From the Jewish Federation of Edmonton:

"…Mr. Saul Reichert received a great honour at the National Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa. Saul was one of 250 Holocaust Survivors in attendance at the War Museum on April 23rd, 2013, where he too received the honour for rebuilding his life in Canada with courage and dignity, from the ashes of the Holocaust.

It is important that we recognize the achievements and honours of all of Holocaust Survivors in our community and around the world."

Together, in part with the broader support of the Edmonton community, Mr. Reichert and his wife Toby make possible the Wirth Institute's Annual Toby and Saul Reichert Holocaust Lecture Series. The Reicherts regard the series as a way of keeping knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust alive among future generations of students, not only serving the purpose of commemorating the tragedy, but as a cautionary epistle against such monumental injustices perpetrated on the innocent.

This year, we are happy to announce that the lecture will be given by Dr. Susan Zuccotti on October 3rd.
