Appointment of College General Managers
Greta Cummings, Joseph Doucet and Matina Kalcounis-Rueppell - 12 April 2021
On July 1, 2021, the University of Alberta will launch three colleges bringing together 13 of our faculties around shared disciplinary concerns. To support the consolidation of administrative services and oversee the administration and operational management of our new colleges, we are pleased to announce the appointment of three college general managers, each of whom will begin their appointment effective May 1, 2021:
Susan Lynch has been at the U of A for 13 years in diverse roles, including her current position as faculty general manager for the Faculty of Nursing and previous roles as an assistant dean, administration professional officer in Physical Therapy, and a research program manager. Susan’s strategic and operational leadership capabilities and wealth of experience in administration will be invaluable to the College of Health Sciences.
Over the last decade, Kerrie Johnston has been a part of leadership and administration at both the department and faculty level in the faculties of Arts and Science. She is currently the senior officer, administration and strategic initiatives in the Faculty of Science. Kerrie’s expertise in strategic planning, administration, and project management will be an important asset in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Julie Naylor has been an integral part of the Faculty of Science for nearly 20 years. Currently, she is the assistant dean (programs & operations) in the Faculty of Science. Julie brings her expertise in operations, communications, and the student experience to this role. She is a strategic leader and team builder and will be a force of positive change in her new position with the College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
The college general managers will work collegially with the senior partners of each administrative function (HR, Finance, IT, Engagement, Research Admin, etc.) and with the faculty general managers to provide operational leadership and administrative services to the college. They will be responsible for providing leadership to align administrative services across the faculties within the colleges to ensure the successful delivery of administrative service excellence.
We look forward to working with the college general managers, and with all members of the U of A community, as we move towards officially beginning our terms as college deans on July 1, 2021.
