Staff Advisory Team Announcement
Rob Munro - 17 September 2020
I’m pleased to announce our new U of A for Tomorrow (UAT) Staff Advisory Team, which will provide critical insight and feedback as we move through the stages of academic and administrative restructuring.
The response to the Call for Expressions of Interest was incredible; we received 166 Expressions of Interest from staff in 18 faculties and 12 support units from the across the university. From these applications, deans and support unit leaders nominated staff from their respective area, paying particular attention to equity, diversity and inclusion. I want to thank everyone who applied for their commitment and engagement in the process.
This 40-member team was created in response to the important feedback we heard that the university’s staff must have a strong voice throughout this transformation. The Service Excellence Steering Committee (SESC) and the SET Program Office made sure to include staff representatives from all faculties and major academic support units, as well as a broad representation across job levels, employee categories, and equity seeking groups.
The full list of Staff Advisory Team members can be found on the UAT website along with an overview of the selection process and Terms of Reference. The first meeting of the Staff Advisory Team will be held on Monday, September 21 from 9-11 a.m. I look forward to working with this team and thank them in advance for their commitment to the university’s future.
Of course, the Staff Advisory Team will not be the only means for staff to engage with U of A for Tomorrow. We will continue to look for other methods of consultation, but we also encourage everyone — staff, faculty, and students — to continue to share your perspectives through:
- Town halls
- Thoughtexchange forums
- Ongoing faculty and unit workshops
- Pulse surveys
- U of A for Tomorrow website
Thank you again to everyone who applied and I look forward to updating you on our progress.
