Appointment of Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research Initiatives and Performance)
3 March 2022
I am pleased to advise that Dr. André McDonald has been appointed as Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research Initiatives and Performance) for a three-year term effective 1 March 2022. Occupying an integral role in the redesigned structure of the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) portfolio, Dr. McDonald’s AVP responsibilities include supporting strategic research initiatives, strategic research planning and performance measurement; identifying research and innovation trends and emerging opportunities; developing interdisciplinary research initiatives in collaboration with colleges and faculties; and stewarding large-scale institutional research grant applications.
André is currently a Professor and the immediate Past Associate Chair (Research) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has a Bachelor and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York, as well as a PhD from the University of Toronto, under a collaborative research program with the National Research Council of Canada in Boucherville, Québec.
Dr. Walter Dixon’s current term as Associate Vice-President (Research and Priority Initiatives) concludes on 30 June, and I am pleased to advise that he will then take on the role of Special Advisor to the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) for a further year. Dr. Dixon and Dr. McDonald will work closely together over the next several months to ensure a smooth transition within the redesigned organizational structure of the Research and Innovation portfolio.
Sincerely,
Aminah Robinson Fayek, PhD, PEng, FCSCE, NACVice-President (Research and Innovation)
