At the General Faculties Council meeting on Monday, May 27, Gordon Swaters, professor and President of AASUA, introduced a motion asking for a third-party independent investigation into the events and decisions surrounding the removal of the encampment from the north campus Quad on May 11. The motion passed unanimously.

As I stated at GFC, I welcome this motion. It is an important step forward for the whole university community. Kate Chisholm, Chair of the Board of Governors, attended GFC and confirmed that the board will proceed with the third-party review. The board is committed to a transparent process and publicly releasing the final report.

The details of the review are being finalized and will be confirmed during the upcoming Board meeting on June 14. The Board Chair will announce further information after the Board has met.
