We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Johnson has agreed to extend his appointment as interim dean of the School of Public Health for an additional year. This extension will ensure ongoing stability and momentum in the School in the coming years, and his term will now end on June 30, 2025.
Jeff took on the role of interim dean earlier this year, and he has been an important part of the University of Alberta for many years. A pharmacist by training, Jeff is an accomplished health services and health outcomes researcher. His past research has influenced clinical practice guidelines and health policies related to diabetes care here in Alberta and around the world. More recently, his work on patient-reported outcomes has been used to enhance the quality of care in Alberta’s health system.
Jeff brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role, having worked with national and provincial agencies, both government and non-government, in areas of diabetes and public health policy and health service. He is well-known on campus, having served on many committees and working groups, and previously served as associate dean of Education in the School of Public Health.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jeff for continuing in this important leadership role. We look forward to continuing to work with him.
