As of July 1, 2023, Dr. Doug Gleddie is serving as Acting Dean in the Faculty of Education while Dr. Jennifer Tupper takes administrative leave through December 31, 2023.

Dr. Gleddie completed his PhD at the U of A in 2010 and joined the Faculty of Education in 2013 as an assistant professor of elementary education. During his time with the Faculty he has served as Acting Vice Dean and Associate Dean, Academic (2018-2019) and Associate Dean, Graduate Studies (2020-present). He was promoted to full professor in 2020.

“Dr. Gleddie taking on the role of Acting Dean during my leave will provide important continuity for the Faculty,” Dr. Tupper says. “Having an experienced leader during this time will mean that our strategic priorities will continue to be advanced. Not only does Dr. Gleddie bring tremendous experience to the role, he brings a deep commitment to our internal and external communities. The Faculty will be in very good hands.”

Dr. Tupper’s appointment as Dean of Education was renewed in 2022. She deferred taking the administrative leave for which she was eligible at that time to support the Faculty of Education’s transition to a non-departmentalized structure.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Gleddie for stepping in to cover this leave and in wishing Dr. Tupper an invigorating and refreshing six months.
