The University of Alberta banner is flying at half-mast from May 26-29, 2023 in remembrance of Dr. Jose Miguel Flores-Fernandez, Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate, Department of Biochemistry, Centre for Prions and Protein Folding Diseases, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Dr. Flores-Fernandez joined the U of A community as a postdoctoral fellow in 2016 and during the past
year he was a research associate. He has been working on Rationally Designed Structure Based
Vaccines for Parkinson’s Disease and prepared his manuscript for publication. He was an incredible
scientist and mentored many graduate and undergraduate students at the university.
The Willie Lab, from the Department of Biochemistry is gathering on Friday, May 26th to honour Dr.
Flores-Fernandez’s life. The event is taking place at the Centre for Prions and Protein Folding Diseases
at 3 p.m. in the Seminar Room, 204, Brain and Aging Research Building (BaRB).
