Since 1967, the Killam endowments have supported hundreds of doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and professors at the University of Alberta. This year we celebrate 27 students, fellows, and academics from across the U of A who have been recognized with a Killam award for their outstanding work.

Sarah Carter received the 2020 Killam Prize in the Humanities — the first ever at the University of Alberta.
Administered by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Killam Prizes are awarded annually to Canadian scholars who have made a substantial and distinguished contribution, over a significant period, to scholarly research in Canada.

The Dorothy J. Killam Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow Prize is offered to the most outstanding Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship recipient in the annual competition. The Killam Award for Excellence in Mentoring recognizes academic staff members at the University of Alberta who demonstrate outstanding performance in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research, as well as postdoctoral fellows and visiting researchers.
