This afternoon, the Government of Alberta is tabling its 2020 provincial budget. I write today to provide a brief review of the timeline.
Once the province’s budget is announced, I will communicate with you as soon as I have an understanding of the high-level impact on our university community. We will not know in detail how the budget will affect us until we receive our formal budget letter from the government. Please watch The Quad for further updates.
At the same time, following our usual process, the university’s 2020–21 budget is moving through governance approval channels. This week, the Academic Planning Committee and Board Finance and Property Committee recommended the budget for full Board of Governors approval. This will come before the Board on March 13, 2020. I will also provide updates on the outcome on The Quad at that time.
