Where is your favourite place on campus?

Outside on The Quad, we're so lucky to have that space on campus. In the winter, I love the pedways.

Paper or tablet?

Both. I read books, not e-books, but when I'm writing I use a computer.

Name one thing you bring to work from home.

My shoes. I don't keep a lot in the office, but I have a few pairs of shoes. I like to switch them up throughout the day for comfort.

What is one thing you can't live without?

Coffee. At home I have a French Press and espresso maker. On campus I like to go to the Daily Grind.

If you won airfare anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I'd love to go to Spain, Italy, or France. I'm really drawn to Spanish architecture.

If you could invite anyone, real or fictional, alive or dead, to dinner, who would it be?

Kim Philby. He was a double agent that betrayed his country and family to move to Russia [from England]. I want to know what motivated him, did he feel any guilt, did he have any regrets? I watch a lot of YouTube channels and documentaries about espionage.

If you could switch jobs with anyone on campus, what would you do?

I'd like to work on the communications team in the Office of the Registrar doing business intelligence. I've always thought that role sounds cool. You're dealing with creativity, research, psychology, a little bit of everything, to determine effective communications.

What does "Uplifting the Whole People" mean to you?

Education for everyone and encouraging people to participate in conversations happening today, and creating an environment where everyone feels their input is valid.

What three words best describe your U of A experience?

Opportunity for growth, There have been so many opportunities for personal and professional experience through conferences and workshops.

About Brenda

Brenda has been on campus for more than 18 years and is currently enjoying her role as the the Classroom & Events Specialist in the Exams & Timetabling division of the Office of the Registrar. Her job duties are wide-ranging as she can be seen rearranging the furniture in the classrooms, hanging out at the gyms during the final exam period - counting down the minutes until it's 'go-time' and the gates are opened to admit the masses of students - as well as donning a robe and helping out the hard-working folks in Convocation and Ceremonies each Summer and Fall.

In her downtime, Brenda takes advantage of the various fitness and dance classes offered through Campus Rec and is still trying to master the art of tap dancing - truly a challenge!
