So you’ve heard through the grapevine that Green and Gold DayGreen and Gold Day is coming up next Friday (September 13). But like your first day in Biochemistry 114, you’re not really sure what you’re getting yourself into with this. Luckily school’s in session, and we’ve got you covered.
Welcome to Green and Gold Day 101.
The who can be summed up in one word — you! This is a day for U of A staff, students, and faculty from all campuses to celebrate our community. And as for ‘the what’, it’s just that, a celebration of the U of A’s people and the work that we all do for the public good. No matter where you are, participating is literally as easy as wearing your green and/or gold.
Best Guba in a round of Green and Gold Giant Jenga.
Or if you’re brave enough, you can challenge Patches to a good old fashion dance battle.
If admiring green and gold in motion is your thing, grab a spot along the North-side of Bio Sci and ESB (i.e. by Saskatchewan Drive), take a seat on the steps of Old Arts, or hang out in Quad to see the Green and Gold Parade go by at noon.
You can also get hyped and live the ten peppiest-peppy minutes of your life at the pep-rally…
And/or get on side as teams Green and Gold face off in a last-man-standing, no-holds-barred dodgeball grudge match*.
*Just kidding — it’s a friendly and casual game. No pressure at all, just have fun!
The how is simple: all you need to bring is your school spirit, maybe some pocket change for a burger, and all of the green and gold swag you can attach to your person.
And the why: because it’s awesome! Food, games, a parade, green and gold — one massive celebration of all things U of A.
And that’s Green and Gold Day 101.
