On August long weekend (August 3-5, 2019), tens of thousands of Edmontonians will descend on Hawrelak Park to enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavours of 100 different cultures at the Edmonton Heritage Festival. If you'll be one of them, plan ahead to get the most out of your experience at this popular event.
There is no public parking on-site during the festival, so plan an alternate mode of transportation. There are a couple of ways to get to Edmonton Heritage Festival from the University of Alberta, and as Windsor Car Park is an ETS Park and Ride Hub, parking structures might be more congested than usual.
There are several pedestrian points of entry to William Hawrelak Park. Along with the main gates, the Park is accessible down the stairs from Groat Road and via a series of trails through the ravine. The closest lot to walk from is Windsor Car Park, located at the corner of 116 Street and Saskatchewan Drive.
ETS shuttles operate continuously between Hawrelak Park from 8 am - 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday (August 3-4), and 8 am - 9 pm on Monday, August 5. The cost to use the shuttle is $6 round-trip per person - ETS passes and tickets are accepted. Shuttles depart from the Windsor Car Park at the University of Alberta, the Health Sciences LRT station, South Campus LRT Station, and 12 other locations throughout the city.

Paid parking for the Heritage Festival is available at the U of A parking structures at any visitor parking stall for a fee of $5.50 per day, until 6 am the following morning, for each of the three days of the festival. This cost is in addition to the cost to use the ETS shuttle.
There are 5 pay stations located inside the car park and two located outside. Pay stations only accept coins and credit cards, they do not accept bills or Visa Debit-type cards. Machines do not give change and there is no access to change on site.
To avoid the line ups at the dispensers, Parking Services recommends you download the HonkMobile payment app, honkmobile.com. Windsor Car Park is identified as "Zone 5101 - U of A Windsor Car Park."
Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Parking services normally designates extra stalls on the lower levels for persons with mobility issues and families with strollers as elevators are not available at this car park. Persons requiring access to these stalls should identify this requirement to parking services staff on- site.
