- Solomon Amoateng, PhD Student, Faculty of Law - awarded a Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Scholarship
- Sadok Ghoul, Professor, Campus Saint-Jean - received the Best Paper Award in Emerging Economies Research from the Academy of International Business
- Mijung Kim, Associate Professor, Department of Elementary Education, Faculty of Education - received the Best Paper Award at the International Science Education Conference
- Tony Lau, Distinguished University Professor, Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Faculty of Science - received the David Borwein Distinguished Career Award from the Canadian Mathematical Society
- Patrick MacDonald, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Young Scientist Award from Diabetes Canada
- Michael Mengel, Chair and Professor, Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Clinical Science Established Investigator Award from the American Society of Transplantation
- Michaela Pedersen-Macnab, Policy Researcher, China Institute - named one of 10 winners of the 2018 International Policy Ideas Challenge
- Ajeej Sarkaria, Golden Bears Soccer - named Athlete of the Week
- James Shapiro, Professor, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Diabetes Canada
- Gordon Walker, Professor, Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation - received the 2018 CALS Leisure Scholar Award for distinguished scholarship, service, and mentorship
- Hongbo Zeng, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - received the 2018 Hatch Innovation Award from the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering
- Ruurd Zijlstra, Professor and Chair, Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences - received the Non-Ruminant Animal Nutrition Research Award from the American Feed Industry Association
- Nanostics (led by John Lewis) - won the UAlberta Start-up Pitch Competition, and will compete in Berlin in November
