- Anne Fanning Binder, Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Alberta Order of Excellence
- Dylan Bredo, Golden Bears Hockey - named Athlete of the Week
- Jillian Buriak, Professor, CRC and AITF Industry Chair, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science - awarded $6.2 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for a project called Advanced Integrated Manufacturing for Micro/Nano Systems
- Simon Collier, Manager (Solutions & Standards), Information Services & Technology - received the IT Ambassador Award
- Jason Dyck, Professor and Director of Cardiovascular Research, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - awarded $2.9 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for the Heart Failure Translational Research Centre
- Warren Finlay, Distinguished Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - named a University of Alberta Distinguished University Professor
- Duane Froese, Professor and CRC, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science - awarded $1.6 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for the construction of the Permafrost Archives Science Laboratory
- Masao Fujinaga, Programmer Analyst, Information Services & Technology - received the IT Distinguished Career Award
- Joel Gehman, Assistant Professor, Alberta School of Business - received the 2017 Roland Calori Prize
- Michael Hendzel, Professor, Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - awarded $3 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to develop new microscopy technology to better understand how molecules work inside of cells
- Steve Hrudey, Professor Emeritus, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Alberta Order of Excellence
- Dave Laurie, Information Services & Technology - received the IT Client Service Award (Individual)
- Yunwei (Ryan) Li, Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - awarded $2.5 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for the construction of the Future Smart Grid Technologies Lab
- Lili Liu, Chair, Department of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - received the 40th Muriel Driver Memorial Lectureship Award
- Lise Niyuhire, Distance Education Coordinator, Campus Saint-Jean - received the IT Excellence Award (Individual)
- Giovanni Trapasso, Technical Systems Analyst, Information Services & Technology - received the IT Unsung Hero Award
- Academic Advisement Team - received the IT Excellence Award (Team)
- Department of Renewable Resources Quiz Bowl Teams - won the Canadian Institute of Forestry's annual Quiz Bowl in forestry management
- IST Client Support 1 Team - received the IT Client Service Award (Team)
