• Margaret-Ann Armour, Honorary Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Science - received an honourary degree from the University of Edinburgh
• Sean Bagshaw, Associate Professor and Research Director, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the 2016 International Vicenza Award for Critical Care Nephrology
• Glen Baker, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - awarded the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Medal of Honor for his contributions to quality health care
• Tamara Buckwold, Professor, Faculty of Law - recognized with the Hon. Tevie H. Miller Teaching Excellence Award
• Debraj Das, Resident and Fellow, Division of General Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - won the Canadian Medical Association Award for Young Leaders.
• Robert Holte, Professor, Department of Computing Science, Faculty of Science - along with a group of colleagues, received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)
• Stephen Hunter, Student, Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation - recognized as the top student oral presenter at the 2016 International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBPNA) Conference in Cape Town, South Africa
• Sheree Kwong-See, Professor, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts/Faculty of Science - appointed the new Seniors Advocate for Alberta Seniors and Housing Services
• David Lynch, Professor, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - received the Syncrude Award for Excellence in Sustainable Development from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum
• Mang Ma, Associate Professor, Division of Gastroenterology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the 2016 Alberta Society of Gastroenterology Distinguished Educator Award
• Brenda Millar, Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the Canadian Medical Association May Cohen Award for Women Mentors
• Lieutenant-Colonel William Patton, Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the John McCrae Memorial Medal at the Canadian Medical Association Awards.
• Doug Peterson, Lecturer, Alberta School of Business - won the 2016 Pringle/Royal Sessional Teaching Excellence Award instituted by the Faculty of Law.
• Jelena Pogosjan, Professor, Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Arts - appointed director of the Kule Folklore Centre for a three year term
• David Schindler, Professor Emeritus, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science - received the Rachel Carson Award from the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC)
• A. M. James Shapiro, Professor and Director of the Clinical Islet Transplant Program, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received the 2016 JDRF David Rumbough Award for Scientific Excellence
• Malinda Smith, Professor, Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts - named the HSBC Community Contributor of the Year
• Jozsef Toth, Professor Emeritus, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science - elected to the Hungarian Academy of Science
