Several CSSH members named 2023 Killam endowment recipients
Lauren Bannon - 30 October 2023
The University of Alberta recently announced a cohort of 26 doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and professors who have been named 2023 Killam endowment recipients, with several members from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) receiving this honour. These awards recognize remarkable academic achievement, leadership and extraordinary success in teaching and research.
“I am grateful to the Killam trustees for stewarding these important trusts, which further learning, creativity and research for both the U of A and its Killam laureates,” writes Dr. Verna Yiu, who serves as interim provost and vice-president (academic), in an address to our college community.
"I'd like to echo Provost Yiu's congratulations to all Killam recipients, as was announced in The Quad last Thursday," says Helen Vallianatos, the CSSH's interim associate dean of education. "Particularly, I, on behalf of College Dean and Vice Provost Marvin Washington, wish to commend the outstanding achievements of the numerous CSSH graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who earned this prestigious award. Additionally, I want to acknowledge Dr. Douglas Gleddie for his impressive achievements in mentoring."
