Strong SLIS Presence at ALISE

The annual gathering of the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) was held in Philadelphia January 21-24. Dr. Toni Samek, Dr. Tami Oliphant and Dr. Jennifer Branch Mueller featured work.

The annual gathering of the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) was held in Philadelphia January 21-24. Dr. Toni Samek, Dr. Tami Oliphant and Dr. Jennifer Branch Mueller featured work. Tami and Jennifer presented a poster showcasing our new online MLIS program. Jennifer presented virtually with Michael Stephens and Kyle Jones from SJSU, along with our local sessional instructor Dr. Joanne de Groot, about the the recent Hyperlinked Library MOOC offered to 400 participants from around the world. Toni delivered a paper for the Gender Special Interest Group (SIG) titled "Scholars at Risk and Canaries in the Coalmine" which critiqued the conference theme of 'educational entrepreneurship'. Toni also attended meetings of the Deans and Directors on behalf of Director Dr. Anna Altmann and where much discussion focused on Draft revised Standards for Accreditation of LIS Master's Programs.
