Model Minority screening
1 June 2023
There will be a screening of the recorded stage performance, Model Minority, this Sunday, June 4 at the Garneau Theatre.
The production features multidisciplinary Asian Canadian artists presenting pieces in movement, music, and cultural arts which provide expression on topics of racism and racial stereotypes at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. A discussion panel will open the event featuring some of the performing artists and community activists.
This event is presented in partnership with the Dr. Gordon Hirabayashi Anti-Racism Initiative from the Edmonton Japanese Community Association. It is funded by the Prince Takamado Japan Centre at the University of Alberta, the Film & Video Arts Society of Alberta, and the Edmonton Arts Council.
Entry is free but donations are welcome and will go to the Dr. Gordon Hirabayashi Graduate Scholarship in Sociology.
