Alumni and students traded their green and gold for copper and blue on February 23, 2012. The lucky winners of the Alumni Association's Oilers luxury suite ticket contest and their guests watched the Oilers take on the Philadelphia Flyers from a deluxe skybox courtesy of MBNA Bank Canada, the U of A Mastercard Affinity Program partner.

Two pairs of tickets were awarded through e-Tracks, the Alumni Association's student newsletter, to Rebecca Fuller, a nutrition and food science student, and Nickolas Zetouni for their amazing essays about why they love the U of A.

Nick, an international student from Brazil who's studying pathology at the U of A, admitted he was thrilled to have won the contest, adding, "I really needed a break from studying and paper-writing to relax-this is perfect!" His only prior hockey experience being a Pandas hockey game, Nick was thoroughly impressed by the Oiler's performance. "It's so hardcore!" Nick enthused.

Cheers to the Oilers! (L-R): Office of Advancement Associate Director Jeff Wright, e-Tracks ticket-winner and pathology student Nickolas Zetouni, and alumnus Dan Seibel.

Nick, who is also a Student Caller with the U of A Annual Fund, was joined by a few of his colleagues who were rewarded with tickets to the game in recognition of their tremendous fundraising efforts.

Engineer, President's Society member and huge Oilers fan Christine Seibel, '02 BSc(Eng), '05 MSc, won four tickets to the game when she entered the contest as a subscriber of e-Trail. She shared her good fortune with her husband and fellow engineer, Dan Seibel,'01 BSc(Eng); dad, Walter; and sister-in-law, Falicia. And, as if Christine weren't lucky enough, the game just happened to fall on her birthday! "I probably would have spent my birthday watching the game anyway," said Christine. "But it's always better in person." In celebration of her 33rd year, the Alumni Association presented Christine with a bag of U of A swag.

Christine Seibel

Alumna Christine Seibel not only scored tickets to the game, but birthday swag as well.

But there was no better gift for everyone at Rexall Place than seeing the mighty Oilers ultimately defeat the Flyers in an exciting 2-0 win, thanks to the scoring prowess of golden boys Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall. Thanks for the tickets, MBNA!
