Postdoc and graduate student (Master’s and/or Ph.D. levels) positions available in the Fouad Lab-University of Alberta

The Fouad Laboratory at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada is recruiting graduate students (MSc or PhD) and Post-doctoral Fellows to study adaptive mechanisms (plasticity) and the effects of rehabilitative training following spinal cord injury in animal models.

Techniques used in our laboratory range from in vivo surgical approaches, experimental treatment applications and electrophysiological assessments in animal models. We routinely involve sensory and motor behavioral tests and rehabilitative training where we specialize in forelimb motor function. In addition, we use cell culture, histology and quantitative microscopy techniques. Furthermore, we employ analytical and language programming tools such as Python and R for data analysis and visualization.

We are looking for candidates with neuroscience background and a strong passion for experimental research in animal models of neurotrauma, and preferably with experience in neuroanatomy, physiology, molecular biology, and data analytics/descriptive statistics.
