Post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Maya Shmulevitz at the Medical Microbiology & Immunology Department, University of Alberta.

The Shmulevitz laboratory invites applications for post-doctoral fellows (PDFs) to lead collaborative projects between Dr. Shmulevitz (virology and oncolytic virus expert) and Dr. Baldwin (immunology and oncolytic virus expert). The projects aim to advance genetically-engineered virus reovirus and vaccinia virus variants as vaccine vectors and oncolytic therapies. The projects will expose PDFs to a wide variety of scientific questions and approaches, including exploring changes in immunological responses and understanding mechanistic relationships between virus characteristics and activity in vitro and in vivo. Of the two PDF positions available, one seeks an individual with a genomics background to spearhead single cell sequencing as an approach to decipher reovirus-associated immunological changes. The fellows will work in the Shmulevitz lab with routine access to expertise from Dr. Baldwin. The Shmulevitz lab prides itself on a very collegial environment that collectively strive for high quality innovative scientific discoveries.

The review of applications will begin November 1st, 2022 and continue until positions are filled.
