CANOROCK STEP PHD SCHOOL 2016CaNoRock STEP PhD school on wave/particle interactions in the radiation belts

July 04th - July 14th, 2016
Barrier Lake Station
Kananaskis, Canada

This course consists of a lecture series providing specialist training in space science as well as hands-on experience in data analysis. And did we mention that we will write a leading edge scientific paper in ten days?

Only students enrolled at one of the partner institutions (Alberta, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Bergen, Tromsø, Oslo, University Centre in Svalbard) may apply.

First preference will be given to PhD students in space physics or closely related discipline; Masters students in the same fields may also apply.

Please send your application (CV and a short description of your research interests) to

Lasse Clausen (lasse.clausen@fys.uio.no) if you are in Norway
Ian Mann (imann@ualberta.ca) if you are in Canada.

The application deadline is Feb 3rd 2016.

You can read more in the CaNoRock STEP flyer.

The project will cover travel costs for flying into Calgary (for both Canadians and Norwegians) and subsequent shuttle service to the field station. The school includes room and board. Students cover the cost of getting to/from their home airport, and any incidentals. All travel arrangements will be made through the University of Oslo once the list of participants is finalized.

The PhD school is established as a special course (spesialpensum) worth 5 ECTS at the University of Oslo. Students from other universities can enroll and have the ECTS credits transferred to their home institutions.
