Department of History & Classics Colloquium

Our first public talk of the new term is on Thursday, January 14 at 3:30pm in Business 1-5, featuring our former Chair, David J. Hall, discussing: "What Were They Thinking? Reflections on the Federal Government's Assumptions in Negotiating the Numbered Indian Treaties of the 1870s" Dr. Hall will argue that Government and Native Peoples had widely disparate understandings of the treaty process and commitments in the 1870s. This, in turn, is vital to an appreciation of subsequent government 'Indian" policies, and the Native response to them. All are welcome!
