Eligibility

  • Superior Academic Standing (equivalent to a grade point average of 3.5 or greater)
  • Department of Economics or Department of Political Science
  • Awarded for the study of problematic aspects of Canada-United States relations, or for the dissemination of scholarly information in this field of study
  • Awarded on the basis of research potential
  • Awarded on the basis of superior academic standing
  • In odd-numbered years awarded to a nominee registered in the Department of Economics and in even-numbered years awarded to a nominee registered in the Department of Political Science
  • In the event that a nominee cannot be found in the specified department, the scholarship may be awarded to a nominee registered in the other department
  • In nominating a nominee for the scholarship the departments may take financial need into consideration
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in masters programs.
  • Open to applicants in course-based study programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.

By Nomination Only: Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty). The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
