Access to the Henry Marshall Tory Building and Alberta School of Business Building during atrium renovation

The Henry Marshall Tory Building atrium will close in late July 2024 and reopen in early 2025.

19 July 2024

The Henry Marshall Tory Building atrium will close on July 22, 2024, to complete renovation work and modernize the atrium. This will affect access to the Henry Marshall Tory Building (Tory) and the Alberta School of Business Building (Business). The atrium is expected to reopen in early 2025.

The east and west doors of the atrium will be closed during construction, as well as the pedway to the atrium from HUB Mall (HUB). This means that there will be no access from the atrium to Tory or Business. The second floor pedway between Business and Tory will also be closed.

The Tory Building can be accessed via exterior entrances on the north and east of the building as well as the north entrances to the Tory breezeway. The northwest breezeway entrance and elevator in the breezeway will provide barrier-free access to the building.

The Business Building can be accessed via the south exterior entrance, which will provide barrier-free access to the building.

Since there will be no interior access to Tory or Business from HUB during this phase of construction, people travelling to these buildings from HUB are encouraged to exit on the ground floor of HUB using the northwest elevator or a stairwell. People travelling to these buildings from the Humanities Centre are encouraged to exit on the ground floor of the centre.

Your ONEcard may be required for access during and after business hours. Please ensure you have your valid ONEcard with you at all times to guarantee smooth access to buildings and facilities. For current information on building hours, including pedways and primary entrances, visit uab.ca/hours.

Don’t allow someone to follow behind you or hold doors open to areas that are locked or require ONEcard access. If you are studying or working late you can contact Safewalk to book an escort across or from North Campus. Contact protective services outside Safewalk’s hours.
