Drawing on a range of sources we offer a structural and cultural diagnosis of this attention to burnout, arguing that burnout is situated within a spectrum of wellness to mental health that disavows anger and betrayal as central affects within the construct. We reconsider anger and betrayal through the lens of feminist affect theory, contrasting our own analysis of burnout with its framing through popular discourses on resilience and self-care, which are
wrought with stereotyped remedies that personalize systemic issues.
