Join U of A instructor and accredited music therapist, Sheila Killoran, on a virtual guided journey through the applications of music as medicine, including its use in palliative care, grief counselling and mental wellbeing. Take a guided imagery and musical journey to experience a taste of the music therapy technique. Learn how to apply music therapy to your life before Seasonal Affective Disorder kicks in!

Sheila Killoran, MA, MTA, FAMI

Sheila is an accredited music therapist and educator with a Masters in Creative Arts Therapies from Concordia University, Montreal. For the past ten years, she has been teaching Introduction to Music Therapy courses through St. Stephens College and for the University of Alberta. She also offers personal guided imagery and music sessions and workshops, and has worked for 17 years as a music therapist in palliative care. As a certified practitioner of The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, she is registered as a Fellow with the Association for Music and Imagery. Her therapy practice supports individuals with personal growth, life transitions, grief, depression, anxiety, and includes adapted guided imagery and music for persons in palliative care. Sheila’s clients report that music therapy sessions help facilitate emotional expression and healing that is difficult with words alone.
