Work will soon begin to select deans for four faculties.

Beginning this fall, the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) will begin recruiting for many important leadership positions at the university. The first round of searches will begin in the coming weeks as the university looks for deans in the following faculties:

  • Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences
  • Augustana Campus
  • Engineering
  • Nursing

Next steps in the selection process for the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) will be establishing dean selection committees for each of the faculties listed above. This will be done in accordance with the University of Alberta Policies and Procedures Online (UAPPOL). Committee members will be elected or appointed from the various constituencies as noted in the policy.

Once established, the committees will seek advice and opinion on the leadership needs of each faculty and will recommend a candidate for each position to the provost and president.

Communications have been sent to the faculties noted and it is expected that all four dean roles will be filled within the 2023-24 term.

Detailed information about each of the committees will be posted on the Provost Selections and Reviews website as it becomes available. This website will be updated with details that include the names of the dean selection committee members, town hall and faculty forum dates, as well as the committees’ meeting schedules.

We will distribute information about other leadership searches in the near future.

If you have any questions about the selection process, please feel free to contact selrev@ualberta.ca.
