Call for University Teaching Awards Committee

The General Faculties Council is calling for applications by interested staff members to fill selection committee vacancies.

Following a review of the procedures and processes for awards and recognition at the University of Alberta, a number of changes, informed by the report of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Review of Teaching Awards Working Group, can now be considered in GFC’s teaching awards set out in the UAPPOL Awards for Teaching Excellence Policy Suite. UTAC will consider revisions to the policy suite in light of the recommendations in the report and will be tasked with adjudicating teaching awards. Applications must be submitted by January 16, 2023.

The call for nominations includes the following academic staff and student vacancies to serve on the GFC University Teaching Awards Committee (UTAC):

  • Three (3) vacancies for Academic Staff - from staff categories A1.1, A1.6/A1.5, A1.7*
  • Three (3) vacancies for Undergraduate Students*
  • One (1) vacancy for a Graduate Student*

*The Nominating Committee will ensure that at least one student and two of the three academic staff members selected are members of GFC.

The commitment includes three meetings scheduled in 2023:

  • February 16 | 1-2:30 p.m.
  • March 30 | 1-2:30 p.m.
  • April 6 | 10 a.m.-noon
