Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Wendy Rodgers has been appointed to the position of Vice-President (Academic) and Provost at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), effective September 2022.  Wendy will be stepping down from the position of Deputy Provost on July 1st and will be taking on some project work over the summer before she takes on her new role.

Wendy leaves the University of Alberta following a long career as a professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, and in senior roles in central administration. Most recently, Wendy completed seven years in the role of Deputy Provost, during which she led major initiatives in many areas, including equity, diversity, and inclusion, academic leadership development, freedom of expression, faculty annual reporting and evaluation, program quality assurance, and continuing education. She has also served for the last year as Interim Dean of Extension. Her unwavering commitment to the academic mission has greatly enriched the work of the Provost’s portfolio, and I would like to particularly thank her for her tremendous support, wisdom and work ethic.

Information about an interim deputy provost appointment will be circulated in the near future.

Please join me in congratulating Wendy on her new role.

Steven Dew
