On November 14, the University of Alberta submitted its brief on the Statutory Review of the Copyright Act. The full text of the U of A submission is included below.
When the review process commenced in the spring of 2018, a blog post was published in The Quad encouraging individuals to submit their own briefs to inform the INDU Committee of their interests and concerns surrounding the copyright review. The period for submitting briefs will end on Monday, 10 December 2018, and I want to take this opportunity to remind you, the members of the U of A community, that there is still time to make your voice heard in the current review of the Copyright Act and to encourage you to do so. Information on how to submit your brief, copies of the briefs already submitted, and details of the Committee’s activities related to the review can be found here.
The development of the University of Alberta submission involved the participation of the Copyright Office, the Vice-Provost (Learning Services) and Chief Librarian, Government Relations, the Office of General Counsel, and the Provost’s Office. I would like to convey my thanks to all those involved in the drafting and review of this brief.
You can read the full submission online here.
