It certainly took its time getting here, but Spring finally arrived at the University of Alberta this May - and it looked fabulous! Here's a look back at May 2018:

The piano was publicly unveiled on May 13, 2018, at the Celebrating 88 Keys inaugural concert in Convocation Hall. | Photo Credit:Studio-E Photography.This flowering canola was a great backdrop to ALES Dean Stan Blade's conversation with Global TV about how the University of Alberta is contributing to global seed genetic storage.The end of May marked the perfect time to raise the tipis at Augustana and North Campus.Tyrel Brochu wasn't just welcomed to the Corporate Challenge Jungle, he owned it!Fresh off the presses, Campus Design and Print Solutions stands up some cutouts for the Faculty of Nursing.Michael "Pinball" Clemons led the keynote at the Western Canadian Universities Physical Plant Administrators Conference conference that was hosted by the U of A at Lister Centre on May 24.The final production of the 2017-18 Studio Theatre season was Eugène Ionesco's Exit the King (translation by Neil Armfield and Geoffrey Rush). The Best Overall winner is "Safety in the Woods" by Raiany Dias de Andrade Silva. The People's Choice award went to Angela McCormick for "Critical Signage." There's nothing quite like a dog (or even a fake dog) to get people's attention!It was a "show-and-tell" with lots of "Q & A" on May 5 as U of A graduate students engaged curious public minds with their research at the second annual UAlberta Graduate Student Showcase at the Telus World of Science (TWOSE) through FGSR's Community Volunteer program. | Photo Credit: John Ulan.The Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation took a tour of Dr. Lisa Hornberger's lab, part of the university's Women and Children's Health Research Institute.The University of Alberta welcomed His Excellency Vikas Swarup, High Commissioner of India and author of the Oscar-winning story "Slumdog Millionaire" to deliver his inspiring talk on "The New India."The U of A was pleased to welcome representatives from our partner university, RWTH Aachen, for a joint workshop on Data Science, Machine Learning, and Computational Innovation. Following the workship, Leibniz Prize recipient Dr Leif Kobbelt delivered an outstanding talk on "Geometry Processing on Different Levels of Abstraction." The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize is the most important research award in Germany.
