This week, the University of Alberta is celebrating two of the newest members to the Order of Canada, a slate of Albertan influencers, and a few new and returning Deans. So, congrats to the following:
- Patricia Demers, Professor, Department of English and Film Studies, Faculty of Arts - appointed as a member of the Order of Canada for her contributions to the world of academia and the study of literature.
- Tim Caulfield, Professor and Research Director, Health Law Institute, Faculty of Law and School of Public Health - recognized by Alberta Venture as one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta.
- Ibolja Cernak, Professor & Chair, Canadian Military and Veterans' Clinical Rehabilitation Research, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - recognized by Alberta Venture as one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta.
- Lesley Cormak, Dean, Faculty of Arts - after a year away, Dean Cormak has returned to her role as the Dean of Arts.
- André Costopoulos, Vice-Provost and Dean of Students - has begun his first term as the Dean of Students.
- Faith Davis, Professor and Vice Dean, School of Public Health - recognized by Alberta Venture as one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta.
- Carole Estabrooks, Professor and CRC in Knowledge Translation, Faculty of Nursing - appointed as a member of the Order of Canada for her contributions to translating research into health-care improvements for older Canadians
- Fraser Forbes, Dean, Faculty of Engineering - advancing from his role as the Interim Dean, he has now begun his role as the Dean of Engineering.
- Bob Haennel, Interim Dean, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - has begun his new term as the Interim Dean of Rehabilitation Medicine.
- Richard Sutton, Professor, Department of Computing Science, Faculty of Science - recognized by Alberta Venture as one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta.
- Kristopher Wells, Assistant Professor, Institute for Sexual Minority Studies (ISMSS) - recognized by Alberta Venture as one of the fifty most influential people in Alberta.
- Denise Young, Professor Emerita, Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts - has begun her term as Interim Academic Dean of St. Joseph's College.
