Several CSSH members named 2024 Killam Laureates
4 November 2024
The University of Alberta recently announced 30 doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and professors who have been named 2024 Killam endowment recipients. Among this group are several members from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH). These awards recognize remarkable academic achievement, leadership and extraordinary success in teaching and research.
“The impact the laureates have already had on our campuses and within the broader community is a testament to their dedication and expertise,” writes Verna Yiu, provost and vice-president (academic), in an address to our university community. “They have made outstanding contributions to the university through their teaching, research and creative endeavours, and I wish them all the best in the accomplishments that lie ahead.”
“Congratulations to all those receiving Killam honours, particularly those from CSSH,” says Helen Vallianatos, the college’s associate dean of education. “It is wonderful to learn more about the path-breaking work of our graduate students and to have their efforts recognized in this manner. Supervisors are key facilitators for creating learning environments in which graduate students thrive, so I'm also pleased to see the mentoring and research activities of Yasmeen Abu-Laban, Sandra Bucerius, and Dominique Clément recognized.”
