Recognizing new Canada Research Chairs
Lauren Bannon - 26 March 2024
In an announcement earlier this month, the Government of Canada unveiled new Canada Research Chairs, and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities is pleased to learn that three faculty members from our college have been recognized on this prestigious roster.
"The College is delighted to see the Canada Research Chairs program recognize the outstanding work of three of our faculty members,” says Professor Joanna Harrington, the college’s associate dean research. “The new chairs in social entrepreneurship and Black global studies and decolonial practice further support the recognition of social transformations as an emerging area of research strength, while the renewal recognizes exceptional achievement in criminology and surveillance studies. We congratulate the three Chairs, and recognize the Faculty of Arts and the Alberta School of Business for their efforts to secure these chairs."
Heartfelt congratulations to:
- Angelique Slade Shantz (Alberta School of Business): New Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Social Entrepreneurship
- Michael Bucknor (Faculty of Arts): New Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Black Global Studies and Decolonial Practice
- Kevin Haggerty (Faculty of Arts): Renewed Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Criminology and Surveillance Studies
