2.6 Academic Integrity and Ethics Training
(University of Alberta Calendar - Academic Integrity and Ethics Training Requirement)
- All graduate students in the University of Alberta are required to complete a minimum of eight hours of structured academic activity that covers the following topic areas:
- Intellectual property
- Research and scholarship integrity
- Requirements for ethical approval of research
- The Graduate Ethics Training (GET) Course is a web-based course offered through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. The course focuses on a number of ethical issues in the academic environment.
- Additional sessions (workshops, presentations, discussion groups, coursework, etc) are offered throughout the year. Students are encouraged to consult:

- Understanding and Avoiding Plagiarism
- The University of Alberta Ethics Training website to identify learning opportunities:
- Upon completion of a training course, forward a copy of the certificate to the Faculty Graduate Studies Coordinator.
- Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research will monitor progress and verify this training requirement has been completed.
