Reimbursement for personal items

As the university continues our commitment to finding a pathway forward, our ongoing conversations and engagement with university community members have offered thoughtful and constructive ideas on fostering an inclusive, respectful campus community.

One outcome of these conversations relates to the cleanup of the May 11 encampment site, where personal items were lost or damaged. The university will reimburse University of Alberta members for personal items. Note that items associated with an overnight encampment are not eligible (e.g. tents/gear, sleeping bags, mattresses, pillows, flashlights, changes of clothes, and toiletries).

University of Alberta students (registered in degree programs on May 11, 2024), faculty or staff members (employed on May 11, 2024) interested in reimbursement for eligible items can individually initiate the process by emailing Reimb24@ualberta.ca from their ualberta email account to request a reimbursement form. The deadline for submission is September 30, 2024. University financial policies will guide the claims process.

Please note that access to any information provided in this application will be limited to only those University Services, Operations & Finance Staff involved in the approval and reimbursement process. As previously indicated, faculty, staff, and students will not be subject to any disciplinary sanctions as a result of participating in the May 2024 encampment.
