To illustrate our support for the people of Ukraine and their rich culture, the ICTM’s Study Group on Ethnochoreology are delighted to present an online seminar by Dr. Andriy Nahachewsky on 'Ukrainian Traditional Dance in its International Context' on Friday, 11th March at 13:00 (CET).
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought this European region to the forefront in international news. Many Ukrainians partake in dance socially, as part of their ritual lives, and as art. Furthermore, Ukrainian dance representations on stage have become a prominent symbol of Ukrainian identity around the world.This presentation introduces the rich and diverse worlds of Ukrainian dance. The current war compels a post-colonial lens and engagement with the international context.
