KSR Alumni Celebration: A Day of Connection, Memories and Milestones
23 September 2024
The Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) alumni event during U of A Days was a joyful celebration, filled with laughter, shared memories and reconnections. This year’s gathering was especially significant, coinciding with KSR’s 60th anniversary.
Alumni enjoyed tours through Van Vliet, ending with a visit to the Wall of Fame room, where they reminisced about their time at KSR. The room buzzed with lively conversations as attendees spotted their photos and reflected on the experiences that shaped their journeys here.
The day kicked off with an enthusiastic welcome from U of A’s cheerleaders, setting the tone for a celebratory lunch in the gym, which provided a perfect opportunity for alumni to reconnect with former classmates, many reuniting after years apart. The KSR 60th Anniversary display provided a perfect spot for alumni to capture photos, commemorating the milestone while serving as a reminder of KSR’s rich history and the lasting impact its alumni have had on the faculty.
During a speech by alumni Angela Bayduza, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, attendees learned about KSR’s ongoing growth and innovations. The event also offered alumni a chance to engage with current students, whose volunteer efforts ensured everything ran smoothly.
Keepsakes like scarves, anniversary stickers and cookies were given to alumni, but it was the shared stories and strong sense of community that left the most lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
